ABOUT THIS BOOK
Reflections, essay, Alain
Amzallag, Ph.D.,
Fondation littéraire Fleur de Lys
Born in 1949 in Casablanca, Morocco, Alain
Amzallag, in the early 60’s decides that he
will become a scientist and set s his sights
on “finding a cure for cancer”. Up until
1970, Alain studies scientific and medical
topics so as to prepare himself to achieve
this goal. When he was 21 years old, the
author entered a Ph.D. program at the
Cornell University Graduate School of
Medical Sciences/Sloan-Kettering Division,
in Manhattan. There, he undertakes several
projects in Immunogenetics with success.
Besides distractions of social nature (chess,
bridge & volleyball) Alain studies hard and
with determination. Following an unfortunate
love betrayal, Alain slips into a major
depression in the Fall of 1973. Once the
depression is over, his mood is buoyant and
he undertakes in the Spring of 1974 a
marathon of 72 hours accompanied with sleep
and food deprivation during which he works
on a theoretical approach to cancer therapy.
During his retreat in the dormitory room, he
has a vision. This vision encompasses an
integrated comprehension of the
immunological aspect of cancer and other
chronic diseases.
Towards the end of the vision, the author
loses contact with reality and is
subsequently hospitalized and diagnosed as
having had an ‘acute schizoid episode’. In
this book, you will find the description of
the prevailing mental state before, during
and after the vision as well as the
outlining of the vision.

A universal treatment against
cancer
Blue angel
The General Theory of cancer Management
1,2,3,4 has gone a long way since its
conceptualization in 1974. Indeed, the
approaches advocated in Alain Amzallag’s
theory are ‘presently being used clinically
in most cancer treatment cancer centers’5.

Note
from the author
Blue angle
Since the age of 13, the author’s Bar-Mitzvah in 1962, he obsessed
about cancer and the necessity and urgency to find a cure or at
least a universal treatment against cancer. In 1974, Alain has a
vision of such a universal treatment just prior to undergoing an
acute schizoid episode. This vision was subsequently repressed and
personal doubts about its applicability in clinical trials abounded
in his mind.
Twenty-six years later, the General Theory of cancer Management and
the Systems Equilibrium Theory resurfaced (year 2000) in the
author’s mind as his late mother relapsed during her breast cancer
courageous fight. Mme Eliane Abitbol-Amzallag Z’’L passed away on
March 22nd, 2004. May she rest in peace…
In 2005, Alain published “High, Flat, Down And Back Up Again!” “A
Guide to Manic-Depressive Illness”, wherein he described to some
extent the main elements of the General Theory of cancer Management.
In 2009, Alain Amzallag published, this time in French: ‘Bipolarité
& cancérologie” “Défis & Espoirs”.
These two books attempt to sort out the author’s Mood Disorder,
namely; Bipolar Affective Disorder, Type1 and his evolving
perception that the theory has current validity.
From 2005 to 2012, Alain publicized extensively his Theory always
seeking feedback from cancer researchers, physicians and oncologists
but obtained very few comments from them.
Recently, Alain Amzallag obtained a very important feedback, i.e., a
most gratifying reward for his efforts, i.e., the fact that the
approaches advocated in the General Theory of cancer Management are
being utilized in the majority of cancer treatment centers. Thank
you Nicole…

Foreword
More than 4% of the population suffers from a bipolar
disorder with mood swings from highs to severe depressions. The most
severe form, Bipolar 1, is also known as manic-depression in which
the highs of manic episodes are much more intense.
In the past, this illness was less understood and surrounded by many
taboos and much prejudice. Fortunately in the last few years the
understanding and treatment of this illness have greatly improved
and many of the taboos have fallen thanks to the courageous work of
many people who had publicly identified themselves as being
manic-depressive or bipolar. In this book, Alain Amzallag continues
in this tradition, and tells his story from the inside with warmth
and humor. You will find both an informative and an inspiring tale
full of hope for today and the future.
Much of world history has been influenced by bipolar people who had
the courage and energy to change the world around them. After you
read this book, join your
local bipolar association and help to improve the understanding and
the acceptance of this remarkable illness in your community.
After all, they are not many illnesses that can actually help people
be even more successful in their life!
